Got Questions? We've Got Answers!

What makes Phi Sigma Pi a FRATERNITY?

Phi Sigma Pi is a fraternity through our adoption of the concept of “Brotherhood”. Brotherhood is fostered by sharing common goals and experiences. We strive to engage in events that strengthen both individual development and bonds between brothers.

We view each person as an integral part of the extended Phi Sigma Pi family, the key word being family. Phi Sigma Pi becomes a second home for students, a home comprised of a group of people that respect, trust, value and appreciate each other. Our Brothers not only enjoy working alongside each other during official Phi Sigma Pi events, but they genuinely desire to be with each other outside of officially sponsored Phi Sigma Pi events as well. Brotherhood becomes a bond that lasts long after graduation. Societies typically do not cultivate this type of relationship with their members.

What is RUSH / RUSHING?

Rush or Rushing are just other terms for Formal Recrutiment. Rush allows us, the Chapter and Active Brothers, to meet and greet students who are interested in becoming members. This usually occurs during Week 2 and 3 of each quarter, and includes information sessions and other fun events rushees can attend to know the Brothers and the Fraternity. Recruitment week is also an opportunity for rushees to answer whether Phi Sigma Pi is the right organization for them. Even if you are not sure about joining, we encourage you to come out and enjoy the events we host! It is a great way to meet other students on campus.
What do I need for RUSH?

Rush events are absolutely FREE, and cost you nothing except your time. Your attendance at our Rush events is really up to you, although it is strongly recommended to attend as many rush events as possible. Rush is a time for you to meet the Brothers and for the Brothers to get to know you, and the more Brothers you meet, the easier our decision will be on who will get a bid. However, other obligations will not be held against you. Bids are delivered at the end of Rush to rushees accepted into the Phi Sigma Pi Initiation Program.

What is the INITIATE PROGRAM?

If you are offered a bid and choose to accept it, you will then take part in the Initiation Program. Initiation is a 6-week period where you, as an Initiate, will have the opportunity to explore what it means to become a "Brother for life". Initiation is a learning period as well a chance for both the Initiates and the Brothers to assess whether or not Phi Sigma Pi is for them. During the Initiation period, Initiates will learn about the history of the fraternity and the chapter, the fraternity's purpose, and the fraternity ideals in the form of a tripod; and develop the necessary leadership skills to become a successful member of Phi Sigma Pi.

Does your Fraternity HAZE?

Phi Sigma Pi has a strict zero-tolerance policy on hazing. Every Brother and Initiate sign an agreement every quarter adhering to our anti-hazing risk management policies. When we say we don't haze, we mean it. At anytime if any Initiate feels uncomfortable with what is asked of them during Initiation, they should voice their concerns and report the issue to a Chapter Officer if necessary. We never have and never will haze any potential Brother or Initiate.
